When I
retired from a career in writing which began as a journalist and ended up
with 25 mystery novels under my belt, I picked up a coloured pencil and
never looked back. I moved on to watercolor pencils and then to full on
water-colours.
My journey continues. I now enjoy experimenting with watercolor, gouache,
mixed media, texture, inks and collage. Over the past eight years I have
taken numerous courses and have given my art as much attention as I once
gave to my whodunnits.
I want my paintings to tell a story. I’ve heard it explained this way - if
you are walking through an art gallery, and find yourself standing in
front of a painting for a long time, pondering it, wondering at it, that
is the painting which is telling you a story. I hope my paintings do that
for you.
Urban settings, bright colours all inspire me. I carry my camera with me
everywhere I go in order to capture that perfect subject to paint, whether
it be a wildflower, clothes on a line, seascape or a country scene.
I live in Fredericton, NB, Canada with my husband.
